The first Fall League at NEBC brought 14 area teams, in two divisions, to Northborough for 8 weeks of competitive baseball, ending with wins by teams L&M (High School Wood Bat) and Grand Slam (Taunton, MA, College Prep Division). The impressive turnout and flawless series of games illustrated the region’s need for a baseball facility that could provide teams with a venue to play fall ball. L&M Head Coach, Idris Liasu, enjoyed giving his club the opportunity to play a “very competitive league,” and that the NEBC “is one of the top complexes” in the Northeast to play baseball.
With the unpredictability of New England weather, the NEBC’s turf field extended more than one game during a rainy week of the League’s game schedule.
The NEBC ‘s first league play spanned 8 weekends, from early September to late October and hosted more than 170 games, while concurrently being home to the Area Code Northeast Workouts, the PG Showcase, the host facility for a Northeast Baseball Tournament as well as the NEBC’s own October Classic.
Concurrent with the Fall League playoffs, the NEBC’s October Classic also had its playoff and championship games at NEBC, with a win earned by Rhode Island’s Merc Bat. Being the first ever tournament held at the New England Baseball Complex, the 1-0 victory for Merc Bat capped an exciting championship. Appreciative of the NEBC’s efforts, Merc Bat Head Coach Charlie Pirenza called the Classic an “amazing event.” Of the Complex, Pirenza says, it is “without question the
premier baseball complex in New England,” and that Merc Bat is already looking forward to the 2015 tournament season.

As the Fall League season comes to an end, the NEBC turns its sites to the 2015 Tournament season. With a full schedule of tournaments scheduled, many of this fall’s teams are already signing up for 2015 NEBC tournaments.
